Learn To Teach Your Own Online Class with Crissy Herron

There has been so much going on these past couple of weeks (since work ended) and in the past few months that I have been neglecting keeping in touch with you.  I am going to try to do better, I promise. 

Things are changing and I have been having to look long and hard at myself and what I want to do.  One of the things I have on my dream to-do list is to teach classes, especially online classes and workshops, so I was super excited to see that Crissy Herron, from Indie Biz Chicks, teaches a workshop on How to Teach an Online Class.  How perfect is that?

Although I have a lot of different classes that I would like to teach, one that is currently in the forefront of my mind is an online class dealing with Social Media.  So many people ask me about it on a regular basis that I have already started making tip sheets and mini lessons for them so I could really hit the ground running with that idea.

Home Ec Online Class

Although I am not a beginner sewer, per se, I am completely smitten with this Home Ec class being offered by the fabulous Leigh-Ann, Courtney and Rachel.  I love to learn and do new projects and have loved other online classes I’ve taken from these fabulously talented gals and this one is even more up my alley since it deals with lots and lots of sewing and that is what one of my summer goals is all about… learning more about sewing and building my skill set.

Announcing Little Light Studio With Wilna and KA

Have you ever wanted to learn digital scrapbooking but were too overwhelmed not knowing where to begin or too inundated with all of the choices out there to pick from or just plain afraid to even start?  Then this new online studio/ classroom (the love child of Wilna and Kayla Aimee) may be your answer.

“The very first class we will be hosting is a LOVE DIGITAL 101 class. For all of you who said you wanted to learn digital scrapbooking... this is IT. I designed a class of 3 lessons (3 pages) in 3days + another 2 extra days of me being in the classroom with you... holding your hand while you venture out on this amazing path called digital scrapbooking. I designed all the elements for the class myself and I really think you will find it not only easy but inspiring too!

 

Oh, let me just say that our LOVE DIGITAL 101 class have a Valentine theme... yes, you will fall in love with digital. : ) We are working feverishly to get the classroom ready right now and as soon as we see the end of the tunnel, I will announce the date the class will start... it will be within the next 2 weeks. RVA Style School

The RVA girls are back... this time Elsie and Leigh Ann (LA) are going to hold a Style School beginning January 10^th.  Of course, they couldn’t have a class without some of the other wonderful RVA gals as guest instructors. 

 

Here’s the description of the class from their site:

 “This is a 6 week class by Elsie Flannigan and Leigh-Ann Keffer. Rachel Denbow is also guest teaching as well as style features by 10 of our favorite bloggers and designers! The theme is discovering and developing your own personal style! Each project is an opportunity to learn more about yourself and make cute things for your studio, wardrobe, home and life!

The class begins January 10th and there is a lot of *fun* homework to prepare in advance! There are a total of 30 projects that are spread out evenly over the 6 weeks as well as a Style File Binder that we complete throughout the class! The class is hosted on a private blog that only students can see. The blog atmosphere is warm and friendly. Each project includes lots of photos & step-by-step instructions. 

The class also includes three text chats and a video chat with Elsie and one with Leigh-Ann (two separate chats) where you can see the teachers live in a video and ask them questions through typing!”

Some of you may remember my post from the Spring class or the “Save Rachel and Elsie” post where I wrote about the previous classes I took from them.  I missed their Autumn class but I’m not missing this one.  Although the class doesn’t officially begin until January 10^th, several bonus projects and homework assignments have already been posted.

My Christmas Tradition with Shimelle

I’ve taken several classes with Shimelle.  She teaches me a lot about scrapbooking and gives me tips and tricks for so many facets of my creativity.  One thing that I love about her classes, other than she is always coming up with new and inventive ones, is that once you have taken one of her classes you are set to receive it again the following year (unless you opt out).  Her layouts change as will bit here and there but overall it the same prompt.  (Another bonus – you can see and usually download the previous years’ prompts as well in the forum.)

Joli Paquet is back with all new Christmas tutorials and kits!

 

I saw the first inkling of this event last week when I was visiting the Joli Paquet blog, hoping to find that they would be back showing up some Christmas tutorials. 

Then yesterday I saw this

so I returned today to find a tutorial for a Holiday Gift Card/ Treat Box (shown in the picture below) from Jeanne Szewczyk.

As usual, viewing the blog and all the tutorials are free and posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I’m not sure how long this entire event will last but it’s a great start to creating some handmade holiday goodies (and possibly crossing some items off your to do lists)

DIY Holiday Workshop

Two fun friends and very talented women are putting on a crafty Christmas class.  I first found out about it when Wilna (one of the gifted instructors) invited me to join the class via Facebook.  I was first introduced to both of these ladies when they taught one of the online classes I took last Christmas. 

Here are the details:

“It's that time of the year again! Whether we are ready or not, the holiday season is upon us! If you are like us, life is such a rush and we never feel ready for Christmas... BUT this year we have the perfect solution for you: Join Wilna and Kayla Aimee for a Christmas Class with a difference! We will be making easy, crafty, fun and super creative projects for your home, your tree and UNDER the tree too.

Shimelle’s Blogging for Scrapbookers Online Class

Shimelle Laine has begun her latest endeavor, Blogging for Scrapbookers.  It’s a class consisting of fifteen prompts that will be delivered to your email inbox.  I have taken several of her classes and have enjoyed and utilized each one.

This is what Shimelle had to write about the class.

“Throughout this class, we’ll discuss key concepts, but we’ll also blog and make scrapbook pages. The class starts with a workbook that walks you through all the technical stuff about blogging in simple steps with options to suit you. If you’re new to blogging, it will help you choose the best blogging platform for your needs. If you already blog, it will take you through applying a theme, adding custom graphics and interpreting your blog stats. That workbook, Blogging Blueprints, is something you can come back to at any time if you want to change something on your blog or reference anything technical.

New E-Zine from Teresa McFayden

Teresa McFayden from {My MiNuTia} is holding another one of her e-zine classes after a two month hiatus.  This e-zine will run from Monday, June 29^th through Friday, July 24^th with new projects and lessons.  New techniques will be shared every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the duration of the class.

 

Teresa write that this e-zine titled “The Journal of Interest” “is loaded with creative journaling techniques, step by step how to's, printables to add to your art journal, and more.  We'll share pages with each other (if you want to that is), create a journal, and fill it with meaningful pages. We will focus on techniques you can use again and again in your treasured journals. Don't forget the giveaways and favorite shopping hot spots!”

 

I’ve taken many, many of her e-classes and this is the second one about art journaling.  (The first one was “Write Place, Write Time” and is also available to order from the Paper Bella site).  Pricing is just pennies apart.  “Write Place, Write Time” is going for $19.95 and the “Journal of Interest” is $21.

 

I’m not sure if I will be taking this class or not, funds are a little tight right now and I am super busy with the craft shows but either way I thought I would get the word out to everyone else.
