As of right now, I plan on seeing the stop motion movie Coraline today.
I was so envious when I saw that various bloggers had been receiving mysterious boxes from the crew of "Coraline". Here are a couple of links to see the wonder that was bestowed upon them. There were buttons galore and letters to each of those who were sent these gorgeous boxes. I really love that they were sent actual items from the movie...so cool.
Other bloggers received mini boxes from "Other Mother" like this one over at Happy Mundane.
I’ve watched all of the little clips on YouTube from Rotten Tomatoes for their "Coraline Sneak Peek Week" and I am so EXCITED. I love “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas” and this seems to be the same dark, creepy, magnificent fairytale/ fantasy world type movie that I love. I usually like things that are a little darker so this should be right up my alley.
Here's a bit from Roger Egbert that proves my point:
"I admire the film mostly because it is good to look at. Selick is as unconventional in his imagery as Gaiman is in his writing, and this is a movie for people who know and care about drawing, caricature, grotesquerie and the far shores of storytelling. In short, you might care little about a fantasy, little indeed about this story, and still admire the artistry of it all, including an insidious score by Bruno Coulais, which doesn't pound at us like many horror scores, but gets under our psychic fingernails."
Here are some more behind the scenes videos as well. The one about the tiny sweaters is amazing!!!
If I do end up seeing it, I'll let you know what I thought.
