Cindy over and JunqueArt is hosting our S&T Sunday. This week’s theme is to show a vintage collection (or as many as you so desire). Here is another topic that I have so many choices to choose from…the entire house, and garage, and carport, and shed is abound with vintage collections and since Mommy doesn’t blog much and Daddy doesn’t blog I decided to write about one collection from each of their collections.
Daddy used to have a “hobby” room in our old house…basically it was just a room to house some of his junk, umm, excuse me, I mean special things. Daddy has constantly been a collector of stuff and I always knew that if a toy of mine came up missing and Baby Boy didn’t have it then Daddy did. I would go into his hobby room and sure enough I’d find whatever little toy or gadget that had previously been in my possession had now magically found its way up onto one of Daddy’s display shelves. Sometimes I was quick to acquire it back and other times I’d let it stay, even if just for a short time.
One collection of his that I always enjoyed looking at is his gathering of glass and ceramic insulators. They used to line the walls in our old patio and now they are displayed amongst the rafters of the carport.
Here are some found on the property before they were cleaned up
And here's a small section up on a shelf in the rafters
and another area of insulators
We see them in antique stores and at shows quite often but we don't purchase them (most can be pricey for what they are) and we enjoy finding them on the property and maybe at a garage sale or two. I did happen to acquire a few of the posts insulators used to sit on when they were attached to the power poles and plan on giving them to Daddy for part of his Christmas present so shh don't tell.
Mommy's new obsession is vintage paper dolls and she has amassed quite a few.
Here's part of her collection including Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Young Miss, "Sixteen" and others.
Here are the girls
and their clothes
and one young miss Nancy
and my favorites; ones I call the family. Here are some of them
and the rest of them
They have so many clothes and accessories, costumes, everyday clothing, dress up, you name it and they probably have it. I could spend hours playing with them, dressing them, photographing them, so much fun.
To see a few other items I’ve previously blogged about including the small figurines and vintage fans check out this post. However as I wrote, that isn't even the tip of the iceberg as far as our collections go as seen from the post I just wrote about and a previous S&T entry of vintage aprons so you'll get to see bits a pieces here and there
Enough about that though...thanks to Cindy and Cerri for another fun S&T. Don’t forget to check out the others who are participating.
Happy Sunday!!!
