A couple of weekends ago Mommy and I traveled to Coeur d'Alene to check on her stuff in the Shabby to Chic Shoppe where she has a space. They have been closed for most of the winter and have decided to only be open for four days during the last weekend of the month.
After we stopped by there we decided to check out some of the other shops in the midtown area and that's where I found her
so beautiful.
She was sitting in a high chair and I checked out to see how much she could be...I then showed Mommy and she said "Wow, how much?"
I, of course, made her guess.
"$100?"
"Nope, only $10."
"You're kidding, buy her!"
That's right, this little treasure
was only $10. She still has her original tag...Crawford's Clowns, handmade in San Luis Rey, California. From the little research I was able to do I figured she was made in the 80's (when Harlequin's were so in vogue). I remember my Aunt Cathy had a lot of Harlequin items when I was a kid.
She is quite a wonder, lots of lace, full porcelain head and beautifully painted face. If anyone knows anything about Crawford's Clowns please let me know.
I bought two of these Crawford Clowns, one in burgandy, the other in pale blue from ebay about a year ago. I was stunned by their beautiful faces. They are difficult because of the heavy wood. I paid less than 50.00 for the two. I have taken the burgandy apart as it is impossible to sit them. Now, it is only the head and the hat, which is lovely..If anyone has them for sale, let me know. Thanks
